01 // Why

Why I made it

Most football quiz games are just multiple choice on a screen.

I wanted the answer itself to be the skill: you shoot a penalty at the right answer, so knowing football and timing your shot both matter.

It was also my first game built for mobile, so the focus was everything a free-to-play phone game needs: touch controls, a UI that fits any screen, and the systems that keep players coming back, like a coin shop, daily login rewards, and adverts. The visuals came second.

02 // How

How I built it

I planned it in a game design document and a technical design document, then built it in UE5 for phones.

The UI builds itself from the content, so adding questions or teams doesn't mean building new screens.

I added the systems a live mobile game needs: a coin shop, daily rewards, analytics to drive updates, a leaderboard, and placeholder ad and social hooks.

Three ways to play

01

Quick play

Pick your national team and an AI opponent. The opponent's world ranking sets the question difficulty: easy, medium, or hard.

02

Versus

Two players share one device, taking turns to answer questions and take penalties, with sudden death if it's level.

03

Endless

Pick a difficulty, then keep taking penalties until you get one wrong. Your best streaks go on the leaderboard.

05 // Features

What's in it

  • Two-tap aiming: stop the target across the goal, then up, to pick your answer
  • A question bank split into easy, medium, and hard, with no repeats and shuffled answers
  • An AI opponent that picks the right answer 75% of the time
  • Five-penalty shootouts with sudden death
  • Hint and 50/50 power-ups
  • Coins from matches to spend on power-ups and ball skins
  • Daily login rewards that grow over a seven-day streak
  • A leaderboard for each Endless difficulty, with dates
  • Settings, coins, and scores that save between sessions
  • Analytics to drive live updates
  • UI that builds itself from added content
  • Ad and social sharing hooks (placeholder)
